Volunteer E-mail
There are a number of ways that our community friends can partner with A Friend’s House.

Individuals or small groups can work directly with the children or assist the staff behind the scenes.

Volunteers must be 21 years of age to work directly with children, required to complete an orientation class, and must pass a police background check.

Weekend Meals Program

Volunteers are needed to assist in providing a breakfast, lunch or dinner meal Saturdays and Sundays each month.  This is a great opportunity for church and civic organizations to either cook on-site or deliver a nutritious meal for the children residing at A Friend’s House.

Arts & Crafts

Do you have a special talent for painting, doing small arts & crafts projects, jewelry making, T-Shirt decorating?  Volunteers can assist our Activities Coordinator to create a fun project for our residents.

Chaperones/Outings

Volunteers or small groups can plan and sponsor an outing for our residents such as a fishing trip, cook-out, pool party, going to the Braves or Hawks games, etc.  Volunteers can also accompany residents and staff to various outings or activities as chaperones/guests (some cost may be incurred)

Games/Sports Camps

A Friend’s House has plans underway to build an outdoor basketball and pavilion area for the residents and staff.  The project is expected to be completed by late summer 2008.  Volunteers or small groups can organize a team to play basketball or create a sports camp.  We also have opportunities for tennis enthusiasts to assist us with Monday night lessons for our residents (summer only)

Office Support/Donations

Volunteers are needed to assist with answering the phones and general clerical duties.  Hours vary Monday – Friday 8:00 – 5:00 pm.  Assistance is also needed to help with our quarterly newsletter mailings, sorting donations, stocking our pantry, running errands, etc.

Landscaping & Light Maintenance

Volunteers can assist us with episodic work days which are generally once a quarter.  Activities range from planting flowers, trimming shrubbery, putting out pine straw to painting.  Handymen or Handywomen who can help us with light repairs are always welcomed!

In-Kind Donations/Monetary Donations

Volunteers or groups can be of great assistance with doing a canned drive, snack drive or office supply drive.  Many items are needed, for more information please visit our “giving back opportunities”.  Donations can be received Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Your monetary Donations are tax deductible and continue to be a source of supply for us to continue to provide services, programs, shelter and food to children in our care.  Thank you for your generosity.
